Carlos E. Hernandez (Drawing:200mm F/8.7 Klevtzov-Cassegrain)

An interesting observation of Jupiter made on the last date of 2001.
The NEB Disturbance (center at 151.9 L2, 237.4 L3) is prominent on
the CM showing a "spike-like" projection to the southwest
(South-following) and a broader, fan-like portion to the east (preceding).
A small, very bright (8/10) oval is noted preceding the NEB Disturbance
along the northern edge of the NEB (NEB-N).
The northern half of the SEB (SEB-N) appears to contain dark (3/10)
condensations ("lumps") over this portion of the planet.
Streaky festoons (2-3/10) were noted to connect to a diffuse (5/10)
Equatorial Band (EB).
A South Tropical Zone (STrZ) band was noted as well preceding the CM.

Altitude: 61-62 degs.
Diameter: 47.0".

Observation comments:
This is my first observation from the new location.
Detailed views were obtained at times during the session.
Most attention was paid to the SEB p. the GRS and the GRS area itself.
The South Tropical Band appeared quite turbulent as did the SEBs.
The Band itself appeared gray in colour in contrast to the very
dark SEBs which had a very deep brick red hue. The GRS apeared
quite pale, with a lighter northern half.
Its appeared decidedly eye shaped with a dark southern rim.
The NEB appeared quite active with 3 barges and 2 "portals" observed.
A small strreak of NNTB also observed, but much fainter than the
streak observed last year at similar longitudes.

Hi all,

Here is my first observation obtained from my new location.
Some fine views were had at times. A shame i cant shoot images
at the moment, but hopefully I'll have things in more order with
regard to the house etc soon!. Happy new year to all.

Best Wishes
Damian
