Animated Cylindrical maps 2002/01/20

Hi all,

During this rainy period I prepared a gif time lapse animation of whole
planispheres of jupiter (grayscale versions of some of my RGB images I have
been uploading to you).

I modified each planet image to eliminate limb darkening and made the
projections with JUPOS using system III coordinates to align the frames.

Only three frames were produced for the animation, build up from images
obtained in small time frames (2001 Dec 27 to 29; 2002 Jan 10 to 13; 2002
Jan 18-20).

Lots of motion, and interestingly BA and the small oval that follows it are
practically stationary with respect to sys III coordinates. The GRS and the
SSTC ovals just go in opposite directions.

Hi again,
Here is a partial planisphere (cyl projection prepared with Jupos, aligned
on sys III coordinates), this time RGB version but only covering the
longitudes of the GRS/BS/SSTC-WOS.

Images used were some of the data I have been uploading to you,
specifically grabbed on Dec 27, 2001 and on Jan 03, 10,15 and 20, 2002.

As reported by John, interesting things also going on in the N hemisphere.

Good observations
Antonio
