Jupiter showing some very interesting features, albeit with fair to poor seeing conditions this morning. Note the color differentiation of the GRS, particularly its intensity seen in blue light; there is a pronounced southward offset of the darkening within the GRS, also noted particularly intense in both green and blue. The NEBs dark barges are incredibly intense, particularly the one centered in the 0845 UT image, this resulting in some very fine festooning in both pr. and fol. directions of this large barge. Note the absence of this feature in blue light, and its outstanding intensity in red.
Note in blue light on the 0907 UT image the delicate festooning that is bridging the STrZ between the south edge of the SEBs and the STB.

Yesterday seeing was a bit better and I tried to use the camera in
high-resolution mode. The original camera 1x1 sampling is shown.
Methane and IR830nm data will follow soon.
Best wishes

Here are the registred pairs of methane and broadband IR images obtained on Jan 29.
BA is disappearing in the p. limb in the first image and a methane bright
NNTZ spot is seen (also bright in IR).
Besides the already mentioned visibility of NTB in CH4 images and
discrepances between CH4 and IR bright structures in SEB, please notice that
the EZ methane dark(er) regions corresponding to the NEBs projections in IR
do colocalize but are not precisely if the same size or shape. I enphasize
that the integration times in broadband IR and methane images is the same
filters are parfocal and all images are stabilized (adaptive optics). Thus
these differences in size and shape must be real.
Data regarding the two methane filters will follow soon

Here is the last set of data obtained on Jan 29.

The methane filter image ratios continue to show the pattern described
earlier. Please notice the bahavior of SEB in ratio images, reflecting the
lower contrast exhibited by the 18nm filter. Image quality degraded for the
end of the session due to high-altitude clouds. Last images of the plate are
a series of 18nm methane images (Richardson-Lucy deconvoluted) plus a IR
image for comparison. These images were used to produce the attached
animation, where in addition of the globe's details also show some
irregularities in the limit of the SPH.
Good observations

Christophe Pellier (180mm Newtonian webcam Toucam Pro)

Hi everyone - some recent Jupiter images.
On january 29th, it was again an unexpected clear night (after our first
snow episode here in six years !), but seeing was again not good. I stayed
in the garden with the 7" newtonian.
On january 30th, I have used the C14 and an acessory to reduce the focal
lenght (what's the word ?) with the 2x barlow, for the UV images. But as
seeing was only fairly good I have taken all the images with this setting.
The UV images are taken in 3 mn, 150 raw frames each with 0,5 second
exposure.
The STB dark spot seems to be in conjunction with the GRS ; very dark in
blue, it's faint in IR light. Note that it has been caught in UV also.
The last UV image may show that big white spot imaged in UV by Tomio Akutsu
on jan. 25th (CM I = 321°), much fainter ; it does seem to corresponds to a
plume here and not to a base festoon but that's only a possibility.
Best wishes
Christophe
