Hi all, here are some new images of the venusian night side. They are of
better quality because more frames have been added, and because the crescent
is narrower.
Now some dark patches appear on both images ! They look real as they are
identical. If I believe the image taken at the Pic in 1993, they could be
higher and "colder" regions of the planet, thus emitting less IR
wavelenghts. I have tried to take a look at some venusian maps but to my
eyes it is unclear which pole is indicated as the northern one, because of
the the so-called "retrograde motion". Ideas ???
I have also added the fits files again. As the weather is still excellent
here (although seeing is poor), I should obtain more images this week.
Best wishes
Christophe
