The weather is still very clear ! And tonight again I will observe. Sorry
for this long serie of heavy files, but I thought that it was important in
that case to send the fits files...
Seeing was better. The dark patches don't seem to be at the same position
than on the previous nights, especially the bigger one, and the slow
rotation clearly doesn't explain this, as the "movement" of that patch,
assuming it's the same, goes to the opposite direction (or, worst, is
random).
Thus I present an argument in favor of the clouds thesis - it's about the
filter I use. Recently I had an opportunity to compare my IR1000 with a true
Schott RG1000 filter. The sun was just barely perceptible to the eye through
my filter (with difficulty), but not at all through the RG1000. Then I
suppose that my filter transmits a non-negligeable amount of light between
900 and 1000 nm, where the atmosphere of Venus is not supposed to be
transparent to the thermal emission at 1 micron.... Some low clouds could be
detected by this way maybe, masking the surface.
If anyone has arguments pros or cons about this...
Best wishes
