I have been told the reason I have not been very successful with the UV
filter is that Venus is too low, and nearly all the UV is absorbed by the
atmosphere at this altitude. Unfortunately it will not get much higher this
elongation. R and IR images can be bright and quite sharp though.

I have 66 videos of Mars, Saturn and the Moon from the past few nights still
to look at, including some taken in unusually good seeing.
