Here's my latest image of Jupiter. Note the bright spots on the N3TB. Note also the rifts at the NEB close to the Z white spot.

Another in the run of clear nights we have been having. Seeing less good than the previous night, with haze.
Peter Edwards got an RGB exactly simultaneous with my second one. His shows Io in transit at the p. limb more clearly. In my image it has come out rather oddly as a bright smear - I don't know why.
R G and B exposures were 100 s each at 10 fps. IR was 140 s at 5 fps.
Seems like a feasible theory, Peter, but, no, the same appearance is present in 
my red image on its own, which only took 100 s to take. In fact, examined more 
closely, the appearance is of a bright spot with a bright streak N of it (see 
attached). This streak is completely absent in your image. So I still don't 
know, but mine is a poor image generally.
