Poor transparency (no methane images were possible.) Still, the GRS,and the dark NTrZ spots are well seen...

Oval Ba remains very faded. Io in transit.

The impact site is bright on the PM limb.

At this night of August 3-4,Jupiter will cover a 6th-magnitude star - a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence for most locations on Earth .

in good seeing.

One of the most promising runs on the 3rd of August was spoiled by operator error (I lost the blue channel data and some of the green). The remaining red-channel data from that run has been sitting in the sin bin for the last couple of days while I tried to see if I could use data from a nearby run to substitute for the missing channels, and while that's still possible I've decided in the meantime to process and send the red channel data alone.
The most interesting thing on this image is the light "streak" visible above and left of the dark debris field. It looks like an artifact (definitely *not* an artefact tho, lol) but it shows up on all my images from that nights session, and in the same place each time,so I'm guessing it must be real. Don't know what it is,but I'm sure Glenn or JHR will have the answer
It also appears that the dark debris trail is breaking into several pieces, there are definite bright and dark regions in there.
ps I'm away for 2 weeks leave starting this Saturday,so I hope the rest of you have lots of clear skies, good seeing and heaps of fun until I get back! I'll try and check my email regularly, but no guarantees.

this was the earliest run I recorded, spent most of that night dodging around high clouds.

Mike Salway(304mm newton)
On the night of the 3rd August, what started as typically below average
seeing, finally improved as the seeing reached a respectable almost 7/10 and
gave some of my best views of Jupiter this year.

6th magnitude star 45 Cap in the same field of view as Europa and Io,
which was a nice surprise.

The seeing was improving nicely, but high cloud and then thick cloud brought
my night to an end. The two attachments show one in reasonably good seeing
and one in typically average.

Although the seeing was poor on this timepoint,
the elongated impact scar is still clearly visible at the Central Meridian.

Here are images of Jupiter taken with all of my filters after the immersion of 45Cap that night, except for the methane images. Please note the elongated impact especially on RGB and IR>742nm and methane images, and the fact that we can guess its separated in 3 fragments despite the bad resolution:

Additionnaly here is an animation of 3 methane images (45Cap immersion occured in second frame):

That was an incredible "Jupiter night" for me,starting with the star occultation, following with these images and ending with 2 mutual events i still have to process ...
