Dr. P. Clay Sherrod (500mm)
Surprisingly some detail in this prime focus (f/6.8) image with the Planewave CDK telescope. I realized that the impact scar was approaching the pr. limb and quickly grabbed this image.

Donald C Parker(16-in (41cm) Newtonian)
I have attached an RGB Jupiter image from12 August. The Bird Strike continues to fragment. The seeing was poor, and I was unable to obtain CH4 images due to approaching rain clouds. (Naturally it cleared after I closed up!)

Jupiter on 2009/08/12 00H42 UT.
The transparency was good.
Good seeing for the altitude (26°).

Ganymede and Io are in transit.

Christophe Pellier (C14)
good seeing in near-IR (above all at the end).

They span the longitudes from BA to the STB remnant (around which some jetstreams spots must be caught). An experience with the Baader UV filter, that has a shorter transmission and should offer a better separation from blue light than the Schuler one. The image looks to confirm this, with a better reproduction of the UV-absorbing haze (less general contrast)... It's however quite much difficult to use.

David Arditti (355mm SC)
Io and its shadow in
transit in the later images.

I occasionally see in my images what look like lines of features along great
circles in Jupiter's atmosphere, and here they are again, particularly in the IR
images, where there seems to be an alignment of features on a line of longitude
to the f side in the early images, which moves round later. It seems unlikely
this is physical, but I wonder why it occurs - Just coincidence? Perception?
Something to do with processing?
