A new eruption of dark material into the NTropZ is seen at L2 ~ 20 in recent images, esp. Don Parker's on August 10. Like the previous one N of the GRS, it occurred when the 'tail' of a bright NEB rift 'flipped' into the NTropZ. This is probably another sign of the incipient expansion of the NEB, which is already evident in the form of yellow shading around the earlier spots at L2 ~ 90-120.
On Aug.12, European observers saw a spectacular double transit of Ganymede and Europa and their shadows while Io went into eclipse - a fine illustration of the linked motions of these 3 moons. A compilation of their images is attached.
