Seeing was about 5/10,transparency 8/10. Io is in transit. The bright rift in the NEB now seems to cut all the way through it.
It would be interesting to see this area in a higher resolution image.

The seeing last night was very good for a while, here is an image showing the Oval BA region. Note the large orange spot in the northern polar region (top).

Last night I found a bug in one of my programs that I use for processing data. The program was ninox, one of my own concoctions, and it was not correctly implementing a smoothing routine that I was Anyhow, that's fixed now,and it means I can go hunting for smaller detail than before. Here is the Oct 20 image reprocessed after the fix,it's slightly improved.

Here is another Jupiter image from Oct 20,this one a little later than the first...

Just for fun I thought I'd share with you one of the intermediate results from the image of October 20. Before loading into registax I resample my raw frames by 3x,attached is the result of stacking 1300 of these upsampled frames in registax out of 2500 available frames from the blue channel data.
I've also applied wavelet sharpening to the result using gaussian wavelets, experimenting with the various levels and settings until I got a result that I liked
With sufficient averted imagination it's possible to see the individual vortices embedded in the dark "ring" of Oval BA. They show up as light spots spaced around the ring. You can also see that this ring is not properly circular, but is flattened on the southern edge.
I would normally downsize these images after more processing, but this one stands up pretty well at this resolution.
