On 6 October 2009 I have attempted to image a transit of Titan and its shadow over Saturn from Camyuva, Turkey. Circumstances were far from favourable.
Saturn rose at 2.42 UT with Titan already halfway over the Saturn disk. Seeing was rather poor, in particular after a heavy rain and thunder shower and also due to the low altitude. In addition, the approach of the rising Sun gave me a very narrow window.
I made several AVI's beteween 3.10 and 3.40UT at a rate of 9 f/s. The best AVis were obtained at 3.30-3.38 UT, when Saturn was 10-11o above the horizon. Using hand selected frames my friend Willem Kivits performed careful image processing and managed to release the shadow image from the background noise . There is a hint that also Titan itself has been captured, but here some healthy cautioun is appropriate.
