Last night the seeing was again good and this time without cloud.
After another long Mars session I turned the scope to Saturn which, after midnight,is now at a reasonable elevation in the southeast.

The attached shows the shadow of Dione on the SEB,which is better seen in the Red image.
Can't see Dione itself against the disc.

This was night of good seeing as also evidenced by Mars earlier, and I waited to
close to culmination for Saturn,so I think this picture shows something close
to the likely best standard we are going to be able to get on Saturn this
apparition from the UK. So it may not be worth taking a lot of images of,but
leaving it to our southern hemisphere counterparts, who are achieving much
better results. Transparency was very low and the blue channel at 8 fps and
maximum gain was still very weak.

The belt colours seem very muted this year. The brown north polar collar can
just be seen and brown NTB.

Seeing was reasonable for the altitude. Shadow of Dione was nicely visible.
