Initially, seeing conditions were rather poor. I had planned to start off observing Mars, but with the disk now rather small and the poor conditions meant that virtually nothing was seen on the disk. I returned to the telescope at ~2238UT and the thin layer of cloud which had be hovering on the horizon was now covering the sky and had the most p[profound effect on the seeing; although Saturn was fainter, the seeing was very good indeed at around AII,and the image well defined in the eyepiece.
Globe: The SPR is dusky, and I strongly suspected a SPB or the SSTB,grayish in colour. Both STZ and STRopZ seemed to be of equal brightness and both grayish yellow in colour, vague hint of a STB perhaps. THE SEB could be made out,SEB(N) was the darkest of the two components and a reddish brown in colour. Some slightly dark sections present within the SEB(N). The SEB(S) was rather difficult to see and could only be made out in certain places with any certainty. SEB(N) still not as prominent as in previous apparitions.
EZ(S) yellow and distinctly darker than EZ(N),although the EZ(S) contained more colour.
The NEB was the most prominent belt on the disk and rather broad as usual. I had the impression that the NEB(S) or NEBs was a light brown colour and its edges were not smooth. Everything north of the NEB was rather vague and ill defined.
Rings. Very narrow now,but conditions still very good so some details could be seen. In particular the CD was present as a tiny dark line separating the slightly brownish coloured A-Ring. Most interesting was the C-Ring,which was only present at the ansae edges and seemed to be shining with a silvery grey light.
