I made an observation of Venus on June 10, 2010 (00:30 U.T.) over the western
sky under dusky sky conditions. Venus shined brilliantly in the sky like a beacon.

Date (U.T.): June 10, 2010
Time (U.T.): 00:30
Ls 293*, De -2.1*, Ds -2.4*
p 78%, 13.7h, -3.99m
Instrument: 9-inch (23-cm) F/13.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain
Magnification: 295x and 388x
Filters: Wratten 23A (Light Red) and 38A (Blue)
Seeing (1-10): 5-6, Antoniadi (I-V): III
Transparency (1-6): 3

Notes:
Dusky to dull (4-5/10) albedo features are noted over the Venusian atmosphere
(especially enhanced using the Wratten 38A (Blue) filter). The northern and
southern cusps (polar regions) are extremely bright (9/10). The preceding limb
appeared extremely bright to brilliant (9-10/10).

A star (82 Gemini/HIP 38106A, 6.85m) was visible north and following Venus. It
was an impressive sight in the eyepiece field.
