The easterly flow that's bringing good seeing has also been pushing dense
fog our way and ending imaging earlier each evening. This was taken last
night in good seeing but well-prior to culmination. It shows the Tharsis
region dotted with orographic clouds and the interesting cloud I saw in
yesterday's image over Olympus Mons. The bright spot in the NPC is nearly
all that's left of the shrinking cap.

At first I thought conditions were going to be good, however in the end they proved to be decidedly variable! The attached drawing gives a reasonable impression of what was observed on the disk. Solis Lacus ant part of Acidalium can be made out on the proc. limb. A brilliant white cloud appeared to be present over Chryse and in the far south, presumably Thyle I. Most interestingly I could see the brilliant NPC but I had real difficulty in seeing the Lowell band. I glimpsed it occasionally but not in any well defined way.
The main thing which caught my attention was the amount of white cloud activity observed on the planet. Due to the varying conditions,it was difficult to pinpoint the exact location of them. i was able to confirm them with a W#47 filter but I resisted making a drawing as I was certain there were bound to be errors in the location and intensity.
By 0004UT,seeing became hopeless,so I concluded my Mars observations for the evening.

Perhaps, the dust storm is seen in Ortygia.
Interestingly, the photos by Kolovos Dimitrios taken on the same day also shows a bright spot.
