I went to the University of Leicester's telescope last night, and with the helpful assistance of Dr. Hugh Sasse, observed Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter. Seeing was never really better than AIII and frequently much worse.
Attached is a drawing of Neptune; it is not a disk drawing, it simply shows the planet amongst the stars of Caprincornus. I did examine the disk at x230, x 356 and x540, and no surface details were apparent at all.
