Well here is my first observation of 2012:
Venus in truly appalling conditions!!
Seeing was around AIV-V, and the planet was quivering like a possessed jelly.
I assume the limb band was visible and complete and that the terminator was geometrically regular,
but I cannot say this to be sure with any certainty at all. I thin k there may have been
some subtle shadings near the centre of the disk and near the south polar cap (a cusp collar?)
and there seemed to be a brightening in the south with I took to be a brighter southern cap,
although it may have been an illusion.
I estimates the phase to be 82%, the predicted was 86%- but this estimate mas made in terrible
conditions so it is probably inaccurate.
Was hoping to do some filter work but there seemed to be little point and so I m moved on
to Jupiter shortly afterwards.
