Attached are three drawings I made of Venus on the evening of the 14th January. Seeing was variable, but the use of an apodizing screen seemed to help. Intensity Estimates and filter work completed:
Illuminated Disk: This seemed to contain a number of 'swept' streaks, greyish in colour. There also appeared to be two brighter regions, one by the terminator almost in the centre of the disk, and another close to the limb band. The shadings near the poles (cusp collars?) seemed to be the darkest features on the planet this evening.
Bright Limb Band: Visible and Complete:
Terminator: Geometrically Regular. From the disk drawing I made in IL, I measured a phase of 76%, the theoretical phase is 79%.
Cusp Regions, It seems that perhaps the North Cusp was marginally brighter, but I am unsure of this.
Filter work:
1712UT (W#47): An interesting filter for Venus. The planet is quite bright in this filter, but the shadings are more homogeneous and lacking in structre. The two brighter regions seen in IL also appear to be present. The shadings present on the planet seem to get darker in the south of the planet.
1719UT (W#25A): In this filter, the swept streaks are perhaps a little more conspicuous. Perhaps the SPC is brighter in this light? Hard to be certain as the planet was at a lower altitude and seeing was dropping off rapidly.
