Attached is a drawing of Venus I made this evening. Encouraged by Pete (Lawrence) I decided to use setting circles. Thankfully my polar alignment is reasonable, and after dialing up the coordinates of the Moon,I soon located the planet.
Obviously there isn't a great deal to see,but to see the phase this small (I think this is the smallest I've ever seen it) was is quite wonderful. Other points of the observation are as follows:
Illuminated disk: Only the thin crescent present. No signs of any markings at all, although seeing is ppor
Unilluminated disk: Not observed.
Bright Limb Band: All that's present!
Terminator: Geometrically regular.
Cusp regions: I slightly suspected cusp extensions but I am far from certain of this.

The seeing was rubbish for Saturn this evening,so I thought I would process my Venus images instead.
Here is an image from earlier this evening,26th May. Venus was only 6° altitude but the seeing was reasonably calm.
The phase is only 3.8% now as Venus swings back in towards the Sun for the transit. Image taken through an IR 742nm filter.

This time i used my 890nm filter for this daylight image. I also took some over exposed runs to attempt to capture any long cusp extensions but nothing showed up.
