Manos Kardasis (280mm SCT )
a set of Jupiter with Ganymede in transit.
The seeing was good but I had to try hard to get decent sets throught the smoke from firestones...
In Ganymede the south bright area is associated with Osiris area and the dark North with Galileo regio.

A month ago and so the NEW white oval between A3 and A4 oval is still methane bright(MB) and has expanded.
There is a MB Red oval at B" -60 in SPR. In NNTZ at B"40 there is a white MB spot also.
There is MB spot south of the NNTB dark sector center.

Attached is a drawing of Jupiter made last night.  I had hoped to complete a strip map;
alas the wind really picked up and seeing conditions varied!
In the end I settled for a disk drawing to break up the weeks of no observations!
There wasn't a vast amount of fine detail on the disk but a few interesting points include the following:
-A bright elongated oval shaped region in the STB.
-Some interesting features in the NEB although it was not possible to capture it all.
-Perhaps the most interesting feature was a darker NNTB which seemed to curve southwards and join the NTB.
The region proc. this belt was somewhat dark and grey while the region immediately fol.
it was notable brighter.

Given the weather forecast over the next few days,and indeed the dire weather we have experienced today,
I am unlikely to make another observation before Christmas,
so I wish you all a happy Christmas and clear skies for 2014.
