Sean Walker(318mm Newtonian)

Fair to good seeing last night. Managed to capture the GRS before it exited the disk at stage left.

Please find attached three Jupiter drawings made on 09-10 January 2014. We had some good conditions here in Leicester and seeing was rather good for a lot of the evening. Points of interest were as follows:
STB was quite active,in some sections it appears to have doubled (drawing 2). The belt is also home to a number of white ovals which were seen
STropZ was bright,a STropB could be detected at some longitudes. Oval BA was seen, but hardly any colour could be detected.
SEB was broad and active. The region containing the most intricate structure is the immediate environs of the GRS. Some of the features here (like the dark diagonal section in drawings 2 &3) are rather prominent.
GRS a lovely orange colour, quite distinctive.
EZ contained a number of prominent festoons, bluish colouration quite strong in some cases.
NEB seems to be rather dynamics- at some longitudes it is rather thin,in other cases it has a sort of thin 'sinusoidal' appearance with extensions moving into the NTropZ
NTB appeared as a faint gold band at some longitudes. In other cases it contained many dark irregular sections.
NNTB seems to be quite dark and irregular in some longitudes (drawing 3).
By 0340UT,clouds started moving in and the seeing became rather poor. I had just enough time to observe Mars before the weather deteriorated.

Damian Peach (356mm Celestron SCT)

The GRS is central. It rather looks like its sprung a leak as orange haze is present surrounding the spot and across the south tropical zone ahead of the GRS.
Also some lovely swirls of white clouds in the SEB following the spot.
