Please find attached a drawing of Mars I made based on my observations of the planet on 30th august using the 12 inch Zeiss refractor at the Griffith Park Observatory,Los Angeles.
We had good seeing for a time, and there were many fine details visible on the disk.
The phase is very prominent now and was probably;y the first thing I noticed. Other details include:
- Sinus Sabeus on the prec. limb
- Acidalium present in the north but seems to disappear into a white haze present in the far north.
- Chryse seems to be quite bright- possible clouds present here.
- A great deal of fine detail present in Erythraeum.
This concludes my observations made at griffith Park Observatory- if your ever in the LA area,
this observatory is well worth a visit. There is one excellent planetarium along with a number of great exhibits!
