I returned home yesterday from an amazing week at EPSC 2017 in Riga. Latvia.
It was a very special experience for me and I met some wonderful people in the planetary community, both amateur and professionals.
Suffice to say I am both excited and proud to be part of this wonderful community. On arriving home, I was inspired to try and capture a late apparition view of both Jupiter and Saturn,
not least of all because I had learned so much from the Jupiter and Saturn presentations at EPSC 2017. Attached is an IR 685nm image of Jupiter for the record at low altitude and in very challenging conditions.
Only large scale features visible, although the oval on the northern edge of the NEB appears to be detected.
Io and its shadow (on the right limb) are also seen at low resolution. [Clyde Foster:Centurion,South Africa]
