On March 11th,2020 I captured in the IR band (~900nm) a long dark vertical feature (followed by a brighter streak),
suspected to be a Cloud Disconinuity(CD) event. Previous captures presented no signs of the event.
I confirmed it's existence on March 21st. I send an alert to worldwide observers in order to observe in the coming days.
The feature gradually presented in many other amateur images. From preliminary analysis:
(a) the current CD event is the largest observed so far in the dayside of Venus,
(b) it is placed between ~30°N- 30°S with an average size of ~5500X500km,
(c) the average zonal speed of the CD front is faster than the average speed of middle clouds found by AKATSUKI 2016 observations
(d) the phenomenon is not related with upper clouds from UV observations
(e) It is almost verical to equator
(f) It is still observable but is very hard to catch in current phase.
So here is the first detection of such a planetary scale event:
