May12_13_17_Fading_CD by A.Cidadao |
Dear sirs, although seeing has not been favorable, I have been imaging continuously from May 10 until today (I'm currently imaging). Attached are selected images from May 12 (5 days ago), May 17 (a few minutes ago) and May 13 (the "canonical" date for CD visualization). A faint/fading CD is seen on May 13, as previously reported by Paulo (arrowed in the image at the right; see attached file). However, on the day before (May 12), a distinct dark streak was visible (arrowed in the left image), which most likely evolved, today, into what appears to be a distinct "new" CD (arrowed in the centre image). Will monitor Venus tomorrow, to search for the "old" fainting CD, but if the proposed dynamics is confirmed, it may explain irregularity in CD periodicity, previously reported, as cycles of CD fading/formation. Obviously, I do not know if this "new" appearance, a day earlier, is the rule or just an isolated phenomenon. If the new feature observed today is, in fact, a CD, it remains to be confirmed. ≪アントニオ シダダオ ポルトガル≫ [Antonio Cidadao Oeiras - Portugal]
