We had good conditions here this morning and I was able to observe Venus in the morning sky. It was very easy to see the planet in the bright morning sky as it is still very brilliant. There were a number of markings on the disk which could be seen. The theoretical phase was 53.4% and in W15 I made it 52%. In the W38A filter the phase seemed to be exactly 50%. I believe there may have been a bright spot close to the southern cusp collar and close to the limb. Other points of interest include:
Bright Limb Band: Visible and complete
Terminator: Geometrically regular- no sign of the cusp anomaly. Dark terminator shading- best seen in the W38A filter.
Cusp Caps: Both cusp caps were very brilliant and seemed to be the same brightness, however the the northern cusp cap was much larger than the southern one. This is probably one of my best views of the cusp regions.
Cusp Collars: Both present and fairly prominent. Both about the same intensity.
