We had a brief gap in the clouds this afternoon and I managed to observe Venus. The planet is about a week from inferior conjunction and has a phase of some 3%,and a huge apparent diameter of 58". The crescent was very obvious in my 80mm OG finer which has a power of x15. In my 305mm newtonian at power x40,the crescent comes to sharp points at the poles and there is no sign yet of any cusp extensions.

Images were only average under a transparent sky.
AL was evaluated against color filters.
The intensity was very faint but nevertheless accessible with the given color filters noted on the sketch.
The limb at the dark side exhibited some very thin light arch as shown using the red filter W23A. Relative light arch intensity levels are noted.
The crescent was well accessible and seen using the 10x25 and the 8x30 binoculars.
