Hi all, here's a thermal image of the nightside of Venus from this morning using a 1000nm-1020nm filter. Some time was lost at the start of the session due to very bad seeing but the seeing for the last 30 minutes of the session was excellent. In total a weighted average of 1 hour of data was usable.
The visible features on the image include the ever-reliable Aphrodite Terra rising on the right hand limb as well as other smaller features around the equator and northern hemisphere. As usual the southern hemisphere shows a fairly random appearance with the surface features mostly hidden.
Of note is the appearance of the far north in this image, the bright streak from 2 days ago is no longer visible, however there is still a compact bright spot over Leda Planitia, a notable low spot in the topo map (showing in dark blue) that was also bright in images from previous days.
I've also included an animation comparing with a topo map.
