I cannot claim anything more than that I was (just!) able to detect Mars yesterday morning, about 50 mins after sunrise and 46 days after solar conjunction (9 January). Understandably very difficult conditions, and I don’t believe any surface detail is visible. I also haven’t indicated any orientation. Solar elongation was 10.7 deg. I personally will not be expecting any useful images for a while, but will monitor from time to time to assess conditions. But it may be an interesting challenge for other observers.[Clyde Foster : Khomas,Namibia]
