STB Dark Spot note by D.Peach

Hi all,
Here is an update on the small STB Dark Spot currently present f. the GRS.
The spot on Dec 24th, was located at L2=112.5, while the GRS is L2=90.5. At its current drift rate, the small STB dark spot will reach conjunction with the southern rim of the GRS on Feb 1st, 2004. Hopefully better weather will grace the northern hemisphere, to allow us to follow this event, as when the last such spot of this kind passed the GRS in 1998, Jupiter was unfavourably placed.
Good weather/seeing to all,
[Damian Peach: Loudwater, Buckinghamshire, UK.]

12月24日現在の位置
GRS L2= 90.5
Dark Spot L2=112.5
このままいくと2004/02/01にGRSの南側に達します。
GRSを通過するスポットの観測で、1988年は(木星の赤緯が低かったので)観測には不利であったが、
今回は(木星の赤緯が高いので)良く観測できることが期待できる。
