キンメリウム(Mare Cimmerium;230W,-20)付近が見えてきました。
この付近には目立った変化は見られていません。今回の画像では池
村氏の画像に面白いものが見つかりました。南極冠が東西二つに分
かれて見えています。池村氏の画像と反対に当たるシレーン(Mare
Sirenum;160W,-30)の地域はパーカー氏の画像では晴れてきていま
す。従って、南極冠付近は池村氏の画像の東半分の地域で晴れか
かっていることが伺われます。今まで黄色っぽく暗く見えていた
極冠がここに来てようやく白く見え始めてきたというところです。
ウートピア(Utopia;260W,+60)に出ていた白い雲はその後、東に拡
がったようで、北の端に白く観測されるようになりました。ドン・
パーカー氏の画像では、南極冠の周辺に晴れた部分ができ、極冠
が明るく記録されています。そろそろ晴れてくるのでしょう。こ
の付近の晴れ間が拡がるのか、別の部分に晴れ間ができるかも注
目せねばなりません。パ−カ−氏の画像は解像度がよく、タルシ
ス(Tharsis;95W,+10)付近の様子を良く表しています。特にタルシ
ス付近にできた白雲が、青画像に鮮明に記録されています。まだ、
位置的にきちんと解析できていませんが、この白い斑点が地表に
ある高地に相当するのかを調べることは重要な課題です。位置を
測定された方がありましたら、ぜひ報告を御願い致します。パー
カー氏はW型の雲と記録されていますが、これは昔から知られてい
る特長的な雲で、特別な物ではありません。

The neighborhood of Mare Cimmerium(230W,-20) could have
beenseen. The pattern which is conspicuous near this isn't
see. This time, funny one was found out in the image of Mr.
Ikemura. SPC separates into two parts. The Ikemura's image
and the direction of the opposition are the image of Mr.D.
Parker, Acording to it, the Martian surface in opposite
brightens. Therefore, among this, it seems that it brightens.
So far, SPC can have been yellowish seen but seems to have
brightened barely. the cloud of the Utopia(260W,+60) seems
to have spread to the east. This cloud is recorded to
the end in the north. In the image of Mr. D.Parker, the part
which brightened near SPC is recorede. In this part, SPC can
be brightly seen. SPC seems to brighten slow. It wants to pay
attention to whether or not the other part brightens. The
image of Mr.D.Parker is wonderful and is expressing the state
of Tharsis(90W,+10) well. I am not measuring the position of
this cored cloud but to measure a position important. it is
become it makes relation between cloud and the lamdform clear.
The person who can measure a position is wished to inform me.
the cloud is not special cloud and is the cloud which is known
from the old days.

Here are some belated Mars images from 4 May. Note the strong appearance
of the "W" clouds in Tharsis: Spring has sprung on Mars and the birdies are
chirping!

"W" Cloud very conspicuous over Tharsis volcanoes. Thin clouds over Olympus and Amazonis.
Thin AM limb arc.
SPC brilliant; NP Hood forming. Phasis, Gallineria Silva, and Acampsis conspicuous.
Araxes again doubled.
The thin dark line north of the southern maria prominent, broken.
