June 19th, 2003
Near Aurorae Sinus(50W,-10), a big change isn't seen. Paulo
Coelho recorded white cloud to the east of Syrtis major(290W,+10).
As for this state, it is recording Ed Grafton, too. The arctic region
seems covered with fog. The center of SPC becomes yellow. This could
have been seen on June 18th, too. However, when observing with the
naked eye, SPC will be able to be seen, being whiter. The phenomenon
to pay attention to was observed. Dark fringe became very blackly.
>From now, the dark pattern will become black for the north. David
M.Moore recorded water ice cloud to the place with low latitude.
Also, D.C.Parker clearly caught the white cloud which is on the
northern side of Sinus Sabaeus(340W,-5).

Hi Mars Observers
Here is an image from June 19th 2003 at 10:03 UT taken from Houston, Texas.
The sky transparency was fair, 5/10 and seeing was good, 7/10. The
temperature was in the mid 70s F with moderate dew present and calm winds.

RED + IR rejection, .15 seconds, SBIG filter
GREEN + IR rejection, .3 seconds, SBIG filter
BLUE + IR rejection, .5 seconds, SBIG filter
Luminance, Red + IR, 600-1000nm .07 seconds, Edmunds filter

Hello Mars observers
Here is some images from Montijo, Portugal.
Isn't summer yet, but the day time temperature today and yesterday, as passed the 40コC (104 ーF). Today at 15:00 the
temperature was 42コC! In the morning hours Mars was difficult to image, seeing was around 4/10, some hot wind and
high clouds present.
I was able to image again with the toucam and the ST5, I have used the UV&IR rejection filter in the Toucam and R+IR
rejection in the ST5. Beeing able to image with those two its impossible not to focus on a comparisson. By now I have
been imaging under fair/bad seeing conditions, and the results are the same from previous observation runs, the ST5
give better detail on Mars under these conditions and with my 8'' SCT, could be that at larger apertures the webcam
vs ccd give other results... I found mainly two explanations for my case: I can push harder on the processing of the
ST5 images and there is less images to stack and so less dispersion in the averages. Here is the results:

The toucam image shows a white spot not seen in the B (dust?) between Syrtis Major and Aeria.
Best regards
[Montijo, Portugal]

Dear friends
Last night sometimes cloudy and clear near sunrise.
The transparency was bad (Yellow moon with the halo).
Luckily stil be able to capture the relative steady moment.
The captured time of this shot is same as the 20030618 I posted.
I am waiting the region where has the orographic cloud a few days later.

Regards

David M. Moore(25cm Newtonian, Philips ToUcam)

Here are more Mars images. I also included an original TCam image w/ an R as a
Luminance to produce another color version.
Seeing was poor for these.

Donald C Parker(16-in (41cm) Newtonian, ST9E CCD Camera)

Very poor conditions, but there are some interesting clouds visible.

RED (RG610 Red Filter, 610-1100nm: NO IR Rejection) 0.55s 1 image
BLUE (CFW8C, 450nm central, BWHM 116nm) 4.00s 7 images
Images bias,flat and dark corrected.

Seeing fair (5-6, Pickering) but transparency very poor (0-2 M) with thick high cirrus and fast, low cumulus.
No dew. Altitude = 47 degrees. Unable to obtain green light images. Green synthesized from R & B.

SPC rifts visible. HP Hood very bright in blue. Thin AM Limb arc. Diffuse cloud over Chyrse.
Bright PM cloud over Edom.
No violet clearing.
