July 3rd, 2003
The cloud which occurred in the north of Hellas(295W,-50) spread
to the southeastern direction. Also, small dust cloud is seen in
the northern part of Hellespontus(330W,-45), too. The position of
the whole cloud moves to the clarifying south. The hazy area in
addition to light cloud is spreading to the east. It understands
this state well by the image of D.C.Parker. In the image of Ed.
Grafton, the state that dust is flowing into the east of Deucalion
(332W,-15) is recorded. The dust cloud separates into two and
seems to have advanced towards the west. Cristophe Pellier(France)
is recording that dust reached (position;230W,-25) the west of
Mare Cimmerium(220W,-20). It understood the state of the Martian
surface by the observation today.

Attached is a decent image of Mars this morning, showing the developing
large dust cloud in the Hellas basin south of Syrtis. The large and
apparently spreading cloud is very distinct in this image.

under the Planetary Patrol link/Browse to Mars and just press enter (and
date if not July 3.....)
Image is composite of 1,300 images with the ASO-Meade 0.41m SCT, f/20 and
Toucam webcam over a 100 sec. period. Registax was used for all alignment
and processing. No color corrections employedSeeing was poor, but excellent
detail is showing.

Dust cloud in Yaonis has expanded and brightened.
Finger of dust now obscuring northern Yoanis and extends inti Hellespontus.
Possibel spread northeastward into south central Tyrrhenum. Eastern Tyrrhenum
however, is less obscured than on 2 July.
Dust clouds remain bright in green light.
In green note bright "swirl" around eastern tip of Tyrrhenum into Hesperia.
Little recognizable detail on the floor of Hellas. Violet clearing stronger
than on 2 July (2+).

Ed Grafton (14 inch f/11 Celestron SCT, ST6 CCD medium resolution mode)
Hi Mars Observers
The Dust Cloud has expanded South and now obscures the southern part of
Hellas. Other changes since July 2nd are also present. The western end of of
Sinus Sabaeus and Mare Serpentis have bright cores present. Another bright
core has appeared near the eastern rim of the SPC.
The sky was mostly clear with only a few clouds in the clouds. The
transparency was very good 8/10 and the seeing was good to excellent 8-9/10.

Hello Mars observers :
This morning I had a brief window of clear sky between two rainy days with
thunderstorms, and surprisingly the seeing was quite good.
With the B&W ToUcam I have been able to use a set of R, G, B filters from
Astronomik and I find that the RGB images obtained match almost exactly the
visual aspect of the planet (to my eyes of course), colors and contrasts. I
think this is a good way to go ! The images made with the color ToUcam this
same morning aren't satisfactory.
I see no dust activity at these longitudes, unlike the Hellas longitude, as
seen on the beautiful observations made by the American observers. A white
cloud is just barely seen over Tharsis.

Dear friends
Here were two mars images taken in this morning. God blessed that the dust patch seems diffused
already. These two are so far my most detailed shots. Seeing and transparency were good, no wind.
Please feel free to comment

Kind Regards

Hello Mars observers,
please excuse my incorrect english.
This is Mars image of 2003/07/03 with my newton Vixen 130 mm. f/5,5.
After a period of about 5 days with the sky coloration tending to yellow because africans atmospheric perturbation, today the sky was nearly blue and the seeing was 5/10 and trans. 6/10.
This Mars image isn't so good as 06/25 because seiing was a little bad.
