解説(安達)
  日本は天候が悪く観測がなかった。アメリカからはキンメリウム(Mare

July 8th, 2003
The weather was bad for Japan and there was not observation. The
observation near Mare Cimmerium(220W,-20) centered from U.S.A. In
the image of Ed Grafton, the surface in the Martian surface falls
to dusty. The image of Deucarion(350W,-15) which was made thick was
sent from Eric Ng. Dust storm is doing the Hellespontus(330W,-50)
center record of the crossing state clearly nearby to this image.
Cleared dust storm is recorded near Pitysal(320W,-58) in the
Hellas(290W,-50) southwest part. On the other hand, the observation
of Solis lacus(90W,-25) was sent from Italy. In the observation of
Ginianni Tumino, Tharsis (95W,+10)is brightly deteriorated. It is
possible to be seen as the fleck that three volcanos are black
and near Mare Sirenum(160W,-30), a big change wasn't seen.

Again unsteady air but Mars imaged as twilight progressed after clearing
this morning; for those without an image attached, it is posted at the
Planetary Patrol link for July 8 at: http://www.arksky.org/
Image obtained via 1700 stacked (Registax) AVI images (Toucam Pro) with our
16" Meade @ f/25.
Hopefully our conditions will improve before the current apparition is over.

Hi All
Here are some Mars images from this morning, 8 July, Some dust in Ausonia and Eridania but no significant spread.

Frank J Melillo(Celestron 203mm Schmidt Starlight Xpress MX-5)
Dear all -
I imaged Mars July 8th and the seeing was no better than average.
The images were taken in daylight about a half-hour to one hour after sunrise.
Also, some scattered clouds around with high humidity.
I purposely waited that late for the dust clouds to appear on the eastern limb where Hellas located.
It hasn't been that much difference and probably the dust clouds subsided.
But, it is still bright to be seen in a Wr. #25 filter. The rest of the disk seems normal and in good contrast.

Ed Grafton (14 inch f/11 Celestron SCT, ST6 CCD medium resolution mode)
Hi Mars Observers
After a heavy rain in the early evening the sky cleared nicely this am in
Houston. The Transparency was excellent 9/10 and the seeing was very good
8/10. Heavy dew and calm winds.

David M. Moore(25cm Newtonian, Philips ToUcam)

Was gone for a few days, so this is the first image since the 3rd, which I have yet to send out.
Seeing was pretty
good for this set.
Looks as thought the dust has spread into Ausonia.

I've observed Mars this morning under fairly good seeing but
fair transparency. No dust !

This Mars image is a little good because the seeing was good. It was a wonderful Mars.

Eric Ng (10" F6 Newtonian homebuilt reflector : ToUcam Pro)
Dear friends
I am attaching my first mars shot taken with the newly installed 12.5" F6 Newtonian (actually I took some test
shots on 0707). Seeing was fair (3-4/10) but the scope gave me very high contrast so the details are quite
well presented.
The dust storm over the Noachis seems less prominent. It is great that it wont spread globally. May someone
kindly comment on it.

Kind Regards
