解説(安達)
  日本からはツィレッヘナム(Mare Tyrrhenum;245W,-25)付近の観測となっ

July 17th, 2003
It became observation near MareTyrrehenum(245W,-25) from Japan.
The diameter of Mars became big and the part of Ausonia (255W,-40)
which was made bright became conspicuous well. Like the time of
2001, Eridania (215W,-45) became conspicuous. P. Clay Sherrod sent
observation near Solis lacus (90W,-25) from U.S.A. Solis lacus can
be seen in the appearance like the frog. Nix Olympica (130W,+20) is
as cloud doesn't leave noon even if it passes. Dominico Liccheli
(Italy) sent the image of the crack of SPC to find well. It finds
that Mare Erythraeum (30W,-27) becomes straight east and west
from this image.

Attached is our image of Mars from this morning (July 17) in fair skies and
steadiness; much detail visible around the Solis Lacus, but I want to point
out the continued red veil over and around Olympus Mons as reported
yesterday by Don Parker and others. Very curious and seemingly more intense
than recorded yesterday. Note the small brownish-yellow cloud located
between Mare Sirenum and Daedalia as reported yesterday.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two additional images from later this morning; the Tharsis vocanoes are well
demonstrated as are reddish features in this region that do not appear to be
processing artifacts ,as they are rotating with the planet.

Note also the scintillating white spot on the SPC perimeter (somewhat
overshadowed in glare on these two images).

Hi Mars Observers

Here is an image from July 17th at 09:08 UT. The sky was clear, transparancy
was very good 8/10 and seeing was very good to excellent 9/10. Hurricane
Claudette passed about 80 south of here 48 hours ago bringing 30-40 knt.
winds and a few inches of rain. It did not seem to blow away any mosquitos.

Dear all-
Mars was imaged July 17, 2003 at 9:52 UT. The seeing was terrible under the clearest
morning we had for quiet sometime! The moon was very nearby about 5' minutes of arc away. I
took only a few shots. But I found only one best image and I processed the best I could
without overdoing. At least, it came out pretty decent.

Mare Sirenum is prominent. Solis Lucas is located just on the evening terminator while
Daedalia is plainly visible nearby. The SPC is washed out due to the seeing condition and it
is overexposed. No dust is seen around the disk.

Dear friends

Attached mars was taken taken in this morning. I was lucky enough to have some good seeing.
Transparency was a bit lower.
Thanks Wei Leong and Maurice for their recent images that inspired me to readjust my
processing rountinue to more natural looking.
Cheers

Dear friends
Here is another processed version of 19:36UT mars with LRGB (L=R)
the SPC is more detailed and the contrast of albedo features is higher and solid

The seeing in Perth this morning has been the best so far (7/10) allowing me to push to the
limit of a 6inch achromat.
A large front is expected on Sunday which will probably end the good run of weather for a while.
