(Nix Olympica;130W,+20)
(Sinus
(Mare Hardriacum;280W,-25)
(Syrtis major;295W,+10)
(reported by 9 observers)

July 28th, 2003
The observation from Japan became the neighborhood of Daedaria (20W
-30). Bright spot inside SPC is conspicuous very well. Nix Olympica
(130W,+20) was observed in front of the noon but white cloud didn't
come out yet. In the blue image of Christophe Pellier(france), white
cloud was recorded to the arctic region. The observation which used
1 m refractor of the Moodone observatory was sent from Daniel
Crussaire(France). He is recording, saying Hardriacum (280W,-25)
became light. As for this, it thinks that the phenomenon which was
covered up by the cloud which is spread in the south from Syrtis
major (295W,+10) is cause. D.C.Parker (U.S.A.) took the neighborhood
of Sinus Sabaeus (340W,-5) the photograph. White cloud wasn't seen
by this image. The white cloud which Crussaire observed seems to
have been the thick part of the morning mist. However, the telescope
too, is different mainly and two pieces of observation can not be
simply compared.

Dr. P. Clay Sherrod (410mm SC : ToUcam PRO)

Mars on the morning of July 28 with unsteady skies and intermittent clouds.
There are very small areas which appear perhaps brightened by thin yellow
clouds: Edom, Decolionis Regio (south of Sinus Sabaeus), Margaritifer
Sinus, and within Eos. A northern polar region blue hood is visible in the
later image and was clearly visible (not artifact) visually and on raw
images.

Images were obtained via 1600 (each) 1/33nd sec. images, Toucam Pro with
double IR block, 0.41m SCT at f/35.

Last image from July 28 under increasingly steady air; considerable low
contrast and fine detail emerging in the Mare Erythraeum area and a very
bright (more so than normal it seems) Margaritifer Sinus.

Christophe Pellier (180mm Newtonian webcam Toucam Pro)

Hello everyone ; I'm sending my latest images with a bit of delay due to my
few days out of town. On july 23 the seeing was fairly good. On july 28
after days of rain, the transparency was excellent but the seeing very poor.
Moreover, a quick return of the rain that night didn't allowed me to take
more than two images.
On these images you can see my first results with an IR-pass filter

Dear friends
Another Mars, first run with IR-cut filter, taken between two
clouds. Hadriacum M. very faint. I'll try to do better with the 1 meter
telescope at Meudon and VX2000 Sony tri-CCD camescope as soon as
possible.
Best regards

Donald C Parker(10-inch Mewlon Dall-Kirkham:ToUCam)

Hi All
Here are some .JPG images taken between seafood and pina coladas on the Keys.
I used a 10-inch Mewlon Dall-Kirkham, Paramount ME, and a ToUCam, eyepiece projection.
The differences in color occurred when I started using an IR rejection filter.
This provided somewhat better, more realistic color balance --
Mars looks more yellow than red through the eyepiece.
I also used an Adirondack PADC-1 variable prism to reduce prismatic dispersion.
The thing actually works!
