解説(安達)
日本は天候が悪く、観測は全て海外からのものである。クレイ・シェロッ
ド(P.Clay Sherrod)氏の画像からは、アルシア・シルバ(Arsia Silva;125W

(D.C.Parker)
氏の画像では南極冠の右側(キンメリウムの経度)が暗くなり、急激な縮小

(reported by 11 observers)

August 17th, 2003
Japan had inclement weather and all report became sent from the
foreign countries. In the P.Clay Sherrod's image, it is possible to
understand to be applied to the northwest in the cloud of Arsia
Silva (125W,-5). It will show the direction of the wind near this.
Carmero Zannelli took a morning mist. The image of E.D.Grafton is
always wonderful. It understands a state inside SPC very well. It
shows the state of the cloud which spreads to the arctic region well.
In the image of David M.Moor, Nix Olympica (130W,+20) was limb in
the east and the state which is faintly made white was recorded.
That Nix Olympica becomes bright will become earlier from now. In
the image of D.C.Parker, it understands the state that the SPC side
of Mare Cimmerium (220W,-20) becomes dark and that SPC becomes small
rapidly

An image under pretty steady skies with the 0.41cm SCT @ f/35. Considerable
detail is emerging and this captures the new blue cloud as well as the
volcanoes in the Tharsis region.

The large blue cloud that has been monitored for days now has begun to shear
slightly to the north and spread slightly in that direction. Attached is an
image that shows the cloud distinctly as it fans outward toward the north
and west from its original position.

Note also that the conical nature of Olympus Mons is clearly depicted in the
inset of the cloud and this feature.

Hi Mars Observers
Here is an image from August 17th 2003 at 07:12 UT. The sky transparancy was
very good 8/10 and the seeing was very good 8/10.

David M. Moore(25cm Newtonian, Philips ToUcam)

Seeing seemed good, but images turned out a bit softer than I would like.
I wish Mars was always this size! I downsized these 10 percent.
Morning limb Arc irregular. Some clouds lingering over Mare Tyrrhenum.
On the evening terminator the Olympus Mons and Tharsis complex are showing some evening cloud tops.
Olympus Mons visible in Red on the evening terminator.
SPC not as bright.
NPH increasing in size and brightness.
Thanks

Here are some Mars images from 17 August. Taken with 16-in Newtonian. In
addition I have attached an image taken by Sheldon Faworski with my 10-inch

Note tiny orographic cloud over Arsia Mons and bright aureole in the
Olympus Mons region.

Dear Mars Observers
After some rains and closed skys the weather open, the temperature is around 10ー Celsius this night.
I must wait until the planet reach 45ー in the sky to start some stable images.
The Nix Olympica is very clear on images and one interesting data is the Solis Lacus region:Tithonius Lacus
Phoenicis Lacus,Daedalia, Thaumasia and Bosporos are joint by dark area forming a round circle on Solis Lacus
(Mars Maps shows those areas separeted by clear spaces).
Using Red Filter two bright points is showing on SPC.
Regards to all
Best regards

Hello
I have changed telescope from a Meade 6inch achromat refractor to a Celestron C14.
The Perth Observatory in Western Australia have allocated telescope time on their C14 to continue
with imaging Mars.
The increase in resolution is significant.
The rift in the SPC is quite prominant now with Novus Mons sticking out clearly at about 320 degrees.
