　関西支部に報告されてくる画像に添付されているコメントの中に、
火星面の色についての記述のあるものが見られます。最近になって
火星面の色彩についての観測がありましたから、それについて少し
整理しておきます。

○　火星面がピンクっぽい

　中井さんのコメントに出ていましたが、火星
面がピンクっぽいと言う件に関しては、中井さんが報告されてくるまで
意識していませんでした。ここ一月以上にわたり、日本付近の大気は不
安定で、透明度の非常に悪い状況が続いていました。御存知のように大
気の透明度が悪いと青色が大気によって散乱され、赤く色付いた火星を
見ることになります。従って、透明度の良い時に観測しないと色彩につ
いては、はっきりしたことが言えません。
　安達は、９月５日に、ようやく透明度の良い条件で火星を観測する事
ができ、色について真剣に観測しました。結論的に言いますと、確かに
ピンクっぽくなっています。と、同時に黄色の明るさも増していると思
います。

　柚木さんが１９８８年の時と比べてコントラストが低くなっていると
感じておられますが、これは確かなことだと思います。客観的な証拠が
ありませんから、決定付けることは非常に苦しいのですが、明らかにあ
わくなっていると思います。原因は、火星大気中のダストだと思います。
現在までに２回の中規模の砂嵐が発生し、大気中に微少な砂嵐が巻上が
っていると考えられます。また、砂嵐の発生場所が、ソリス周辺のすぐ
東側でおこり、現在の火星面の風の流れから見て、自然な成りゆきだと
思われます。

　８月２０日ごろ、日本からはキンメリウム付近の観測でした。この時
は、砂嵐の発生場所とは正反対のロケ?ションでした。この時の安達の
観測では、火星の暗色模様には青っぽい（緑っぽい）色が感じられてい
ます。私の目は青に対して人よりも感じやすい性質がありますから、そ
のせいだと思われるかもしれませんが、明らかに青っぽいと感じました。
大きな口径で観測すると緑に見えると言うことも聞きますが、３０cmで
はそこまでの着色は判りませんでした。
　もうしばらくすれば、この地域が観測できますが、大気の流れから言
うと、日本でキンメリウムの観測ができる時は、東風によって塵が覆い、
ソリスと同じように黄色っぽく変化しているのではないかと考えていま
す。

　眼視で観測された方のご意見をお聞かせ下さい。

The color of the Martian surface

  There is a report about the color of the Martian surface in the
report which centers on the Kansai branch. The opinion of M.ADACHI
is described about the color of the recent Martian surface.

  The Martian surface is pinkish. It reported NAKAI when the pinkish
overcomes and the color of the Martian surface can be seen. It
wasn't conscious of M.ADACHI about the color of the Martian surface
to it. Therefore, it decided to pay attention by the report of NAKAI.
However, this 1 month transparency of the atmosphere near Japan was
bad. When the transparency is bad, the judgement of the color of the
Martian surface is difficult. In September 5th, it observed M.ADACHI
in the good condition. As a result, a little pinkish overcame and the
Martian surface could have been more seen than so far. Simultaneously
with it, the Martian surface became bright yellowly.

  It reported YUNOKI when the Martian surface was lighter than 1988.
I think so, too. The cause will be the dust storm with twice which was
this year. By this dust storm, in the atmosphere in Mars, it thinks that
dust floats much and that it is lowering a contrast.

  Also, the place of the occurrence of the dust storm was the east side
of Solis lacus. At this time, the wind from the east was blowing to the
Martian surface and whole near this was covered by faint dust veil. It
thinks that this is one by the natural course. Around August 20th, in
Japan, Mare Cimmerium could be observed. This position is contrary to
the caused place of the dust storm. At this time, M.ADACHI observed
that Mare Cimmerium became in blueish. It said that dark pattern
became green in case of being a big caliber but I seemed to be blueish.
At this time, near Mare Cimmerium, dust seems not overturned. If being
already for a while, this area can be observed. However, seem to be
covered with faint dust veil which was brought about by the wind from
the east at this time and that it isn't possible not to be seen in the
blueish.
