    火星レポート：ダストベール存在判定の手法           安達　誠

　２００３年の火星はシーズンをとおして、表面模様のコントラスト
が低くなっている。この原因は火星表面にしばしば起こっている、ダ
ストベールだと考えている。

　火星の表面に黄雲（砂嵐）が発生することはよくしられている。火
星の表面は、砂漠のような砂に被われているが、強い風が吹くと、表
面の砂が飛ばされて砂嵐が発生する。一般に黄雲と呼ばれるものがこ
れにあたる。
　では、黄雲程に発達しない程度の風の場合はどうなるのだろうか。
おそらく、こういった風の場合は、軽いダストの粒子が大気中にまい
がることになるだろう。また、砂粒も小さく、火星の大気の大循環に
乗って地域全体に拡散していく。眼視観測の場合は、こういった現象
をキャッチすることは非常にむずかしい。また、ベールに被われてい
るかを判断ずるのも困難だ。余りにも淡いからだ。
　
　２００３年の火星シーズンで寄せられてきた画像の中からこの様子
を示す画像を発見した。ダストベールは、火星の正面からでは分かり
にくい。透過する大気の層が薄いためだ。ところがこの現象をリムで
撮影するとどうだろう。透過する層も厚くなり、それだけとらえやす
くなる。
　つぎの図はその一例だ。



画像の上がその他の部分よりも一部だけ黄色くなっている様子が見て
取れる。実は、ここにダストベールが存在する。この判断をするには、
画像処理の段階で、偶然に出てきたものでないことを確認しなければ
ならないが、たくさんの観測情報から安達は判断している。情報の量
と質にもよるが、１枚だけでは判断しにくいことが多い。

The technique of the dust veil existence judgement

  As for Mars in 2003, the contrast is low thruogh the
season.  It thinks that this cause is dust veil which was
caused in the Martian surface.
  That dust storm is occurs in the surface in Mars is well
known. A surface in Mars is covered with sand  like the
desert. When it which is strong blows, sand is splashed
and dust storm is happens.Well, it will become how if being
the weak wind which doesn't make dust storm. In this
case, light particle will soar with the wind. Because,
particle is small, the big flow of the dust atmosphere will
spread widely to the distance. In the case of the naked eye
observation, it is very difficult to fined a so needed
phenomenon. Also, it is difficult to judge whether or not
Mars is covered with veil.
  It discovered the image which shows this phenomenon
in the image which was reported to the observtion
season in 2003.  It is difficult to understand dust veil
front in Mars.  It is because the layer in the atomsphere to
penetrate into is thin.  However, how is ti possible to
be seen if observing this in limb?  The layer to penetrete
into becoms thick and becomes that it is easy to see.

 The following figure is the example.



Only the upper of the image becomes yellower than the other part.
 Actually, dust veil exist here.  To do this judgment, it is
necessary to judge wether or not it is the one which was
accidentally made of image processing. It is serching whether
or not the same phenomenon is recorded. It wants good information.
At one sheet, it isn't possible judge.
