Paolo R. Lazzarotti (178mm f/15 Maksutov-Cassegrain Astromeccanica KC381 video CCD camera)

Dear all

Here attached you can find my very first result with a new tecnique of
acquisition through the Vesta webcam.
You must know the seeing visually was poor/fair and also through the
webcam with a R filter, it was.
The focusing was hard and at the end I wasn't either sure about the
final result.
When I was capturing I was sure the day after I'd have been trashing any
movy: no fine detail was visible in any time.
I tried this new tecnique as suggested inside the IPT (Italian Planetary
Team) during the Italian Hires Party that took place here in Italy at
Ostellato on the last weekend.

This tecnique does consist of capturing avis with a smaller format
(352x288 sounds best) and a larger framerate (20 or higher frames per
second according to the exposition time) in order to reduce the noise
BUT not the dynamic range as the RAW mode do.

When I finished the processing my mouth falled on the keyboard: I wasn't
believing to my eyes!!!
Features captured weren't seen ANY TIME from me either at the eyepiece
or at 640x480 webcam size format!
Simply outstanding.
I suggest any of us to give it a try as soon.

Meantime, you can also see the strange shape owned by Ganimede across
the up-right side of Jupiter.
Best regards.

Christophe Pellier (C14 ; ATK-1HS)
Hi all : last night the seeing has finally been very good here !
All images show the South equatorial disturbance in various wavelenghts.
Note also the curious aspect of NEBn following one of the rifts...
Best wishes

here is a new set from april 25th - I have changed the violet image
with one taken just 3 mn later. That second AVI was 58 seconds long only and
so I didn't processed it at first, but the 292 frames (at 5 fps) gave a
better image - certainly a question of focusing.
