２００５年５月の南極冠の様子

　２００５年の観測シーズンは視直径の小さい段階から、南極冠の縮小過程がみられる条件となっている。

　南極冠がはっきりととらえられたのは３月１１日でした。これはLsの値で言うと174°のことでした。さらに、
南極冠の中央が薄暗く観測されたのは４月１１日でした。この時のLsは191°でした。

　これらの時の画像と２００３年の時の画像を並べてみました。これを見て気付くことは、本年は視直径が
小さい条件だが、2003年と比べて大きな変化はなく、普段通りの縮小が起こっていると言う事です。
５月１２日に撮られたPujicさんの画像では、この様子が伺い知れます。視直径は小さいとは言うものの、
気流が良ければ、これからは詳細な様子がとらえられることと思います。

 Appearance of the South Pole crown of Mars on May, 2005   by Makoto Adachi

The observation season of 2005 is a condition that the reduction process of SPC is seen from the stage where the apparent 
diameter is small. It was at March 11 that SPC was clearly caught. The value of Ls was 174°. 
In addition, it was at April 11 that the center of SPC was dimly observed. Ls at this time was 191°.

These images and images in 2003 were arranged. It is a fact in which there is no big change compared with 2003 though it 
is a condition with small apparent diameter that this is seen and understands this year, and the reduction the same as 
usually has happened.
In the image of Pujic taken on May 12, this appearance is understood.
I will think a detailed appearance to be caught in the future if the current of air is good though the apparent diameter 
is small.
