When I was out to look at Jupiter this morning, I found also to my surprise that Venus is now very obvious before dawn, only 13 days after Inferior Conjunction.
Seeing was poor due to the low altitude, but it will be worth looking at in the coming weeks as the phase increases.
The size of the crescent means focal ratios lower than the one I use are desirable, but the D-K-D Cass. is not easily adaptable to that.
The occultation by Saturn of BY Cancri last night was seen in its entirety from here. More on that anon.
