Here shown are a series of NIR images of Mercury taken on August 15, 2008.
A: Upper part 1-4. Four AVI's of 1500 frames each, collected at 17.23 (1),17.25 (2) ,17.27 (3) and 17.29 (4) UT, respectively were analyzed
with Registax and the best 200 frames of each AVI were stacked.
Lower part. A combination of these four images is shown. Note the presence of a common dark region at the Northern hemisphere running from
about 9 to 5 o'clock and the presence of common white spots.
B: 1. Image obtained by stacking the best 200 frames of a total of 3000 frames (17.22 UT).
2. Image obtained by combining images 1 and 4 (17.25 UT).
3. Image obtained by stacking the best 400 frames of a totaal of 7500 frames (17.25 UT).
4. Image obtained by stacking the best 200 frames of a total of 4500 frames (17.27 UT).
The processing of Mercury AVI's is very difficult and requires a lot of experience in image processing.
Thanks to the advice of Willem Kivits I was able to improve my recent Mercury image.
Here the results of the analyses of 7500 frames
