This morning we had what can only be described as perfect imaging conditions - much of the time I was clearly at the resolving limit of the scope and saw no atmospheric distortions at all in the live video stream. I know the hst was in use a few hours later to image jupiter, but I felt like I had a private link there for a while...
In these (rare) conditions Jupiter is a delight - tiny dark storms that are small fractions of an arc second across are sharply defined against the clouds.
Here is one image from the session,by no means the best image. The only thing that spoiled some of the runs was fog, which was about 2C colder than the ambient air when it came across, destroying the seeing.

this is likely to be the best of the bunch.

Here's another two images from an excellent session on the 9th May UT,when
the seeing was excellent across most of Australia as Anthony and Paul's
images reflect.

However I had very poor transparency at my location, with a very thick fog
cutting my histogram to shreds - I had to image at 15fps and even then the
histogram was less than 50% full.

The images are just over an hour apart. The second image was taken in
slightly better seeing, but transparency was even less at that time so the
image is noisier as I had less frames to work with.
