Attached is my first image of a new dark spot that has appeared on Jupiter. Its in the SPR,and as you can see from the oblique angle of the dark spot in the attached image it's clearly not a moon shadow.
Looks like Jupiter has been hit by something - how exciting!!!

This is an earlier image in reasonable seeing. You can clearly see a dark fan of material trailing away to the right from the impact point.
this may be the earliest image showing the impact mark.
I've had time to reprocess that image more carefully,here is the green channel image that shows several distinct dark spots.
Sorry this has taken a while to do,there wasn't much time today for processing of data from Sunday night. Here's a more
careful processing of one of the later images from that session using 3x upsampling of data.

南極付近、Ⅱ:215° S:57°に暗斑が写っています。
A D.SPOT can be seen near the south pola reagion (Ⅱ:215° S:57°).

SPRに出現したdark spotが写っています。
この画像の30分後にもう一画像撮影したはずですが
そのAVIファイルが見つかりません。
半月ぶりの撮影で撮影の感が狂っています。

この日の画像は、シーイングが悪すぎてあきらめていましたが、
改めて画像処理をしたところ、dark spotを何とか確認できました。
さらに早い時間帯に撮影した画像を処理をやり直したところ
問題のdark spotが判別できましたので報告します。
14:56:37(UT)の画像はAnthony Wesley氏の15:06.5Zより早い時間にとれていました。

・日食遠征から帰っていて、日付と経度をメールで確認してびっくり。当日撮影した画像ですが、微かに衝突痕が写っていました。
極端な画像処理を行ったところ、少しはっきり出ました。
・当日は7月とは思えないほどの悪シーイングで、眼視で衝突痕を確かめることはできませんでした。

天体の衝突と聞いて、お蔵入りしていたAVIファイルを再処理しました。
透明度はまずまずでしたが、シーイングは最悪で、画像処理に苦労しました。
かなり強調処理していますので、画像が荒れています。
