Nothing special to report about this particular image, beside that it
was taken on the launch-day of Space Shuttle Endeavour at mission
STS-127 to the ISS. (image: 10inch Newtonian, manually tracked)
On this launch there is something special to report:
It was a very difficult observation, only 10 degrees above the
horizon before diving into the Earth shade, but I managed to*
observe the shuttle with released External Tank using the
6x30 tracking scope. But too low and dim for images.
What an amazing sight to see this tandem live, 20 minutes
after launch! The duo appeared as 2 separated points in
vertical position. The Tank was cleary identifiable from the
Shuttle as the fainter and more red component of both,
it appeared in the 180° reversed view of the finderscope on top.
(=actually below the shuttle)
