Paul G. Abel(203mm reflector)
Here's an observation Hugh Sasse and myself made of Jupiter this morning with the University of Leicester's 20 inch Planewave Cassegrain reflector. We arrived at the telescope 2230UT and conditions did not look good- thick cloud was coming in and the sky remained overcast until a large gap appeared at 0050UT.
During the 30min gap we observed the planet and I managed to make a reasonable drawing. We continued to view the planet until 0130UT when the clouds swamped us once more. It was obvious conditions were not going to improve so we retired for the night. Seeing was around AII-III.
Best wishes,
-Paul.
Again the most interesting thing was the degree of turbulence in the NEB,and some interesting fine details in the southern hemisphere.
