Mars high in the sky and colour is rather prominent. There was some high, scattered cloud, but in general conditions were good,Seeing= AII-III.
Drawing 1. There seemed to be much bright cloud activity tonight. The whole of the Proc. limb was bright white and this spread someway onto the disk in a fairly structured way suggesting the presence of bright clouds over the Tharsis region. I strongly suspected a bright cloud over Olympus Mons. NPC large and bright,Lowell band dark and dusky,Propontis I and II seen. Elysium coming into view. I also suspected some bright clouds in the deserts of Amazonis and Zephyria.
Mare Sirenum a dark feature right at the top of the disk. Above this a bright region with a bluish tinge was present. Memnonia appeared to be very bright tonight.
Drawing 2. Mare Cimmerium now on the disk with it's usual dark projections into Aeolis seen. The Proc. limb does not seem to be as bright as a few hours ago,and the bright cloud I believed to be associated with Olympus Mons has almost moved into the bright limb haze. Elysium bright in North. Fol corner and well marked by Aetheria and Phlegra.
Above Cimmerium,Electris and Eridiania appear to be rather bright with a distinct bluish colour present. Bluish colour may well be present in NPC along with some fine dark lines.
Most interestingly,The region directly above the Lowell band, and bellow the shading which marks Utopia, also seemed to be very bright indeed!

Some Mars observations. Seeing was reasonable, improving later in the
session to very good indeed.
I imaged over a five hour period and observing the steady brightening of
Nix Olympica was fascinting.
During this session I guess the temperature reached aproximately -5
degrees but the visual was easily the best I have seen Mars this apperition.
Here my best sets from the session (if of interest more sets here

Here some images from the 20-21st. Very good seeing. Sadly, due to a problem about 2/3 of the data i took was lost. On the upside, the seeing was best at the end, and those sets were recovered. An error occured moving the data from my laptop to USB hard drive - the directory with the data in i created on the USB drive had vanished when i went to check it the following morning! - even recovery software failed to detect it had even existed! Ive really never seen anything quite like it....
Anyhow, some fine seeing on this night allowed clear views of the Elysium region, and Olympus Mons orographic cloud. Also note the various other delicate clouds across the disk.
