Mars was well placed in the evening sky,and conditions were rather good with seeing around AII and good image definition. The highlight of tonight's observing session was the observation of a large bright cloud which started over Chryse (and possibly larger than Chryse) which was on the proc. limb. This cloud appeared to extend around the equator of the planet. It was observed at both 312x and 250x and in light blue filtered light...
Drawing A: NPC bright, but clearly smaller than on previous nights. A brighter region within the cap was present, and some of the cap (on the proc. side) seemed to be slightly orangeish in colour. Mare Acidalium and Solis Lacus visible on proc. limb. The vast white cloud over Chryse appears to cover some of the features of Niliacus Lacus and Mare Erythraeum. Bright clouds also present on north fol. limb and over Olympus Mons. Indeed,I have the impression that the equatorial cloud may 'weave around' some of the Tharsis volcanoes and be attached to the bright cloud on the following limb.
Drawing B: Intensity estimates
Drawing C: Light blue filter used to enhance the bright clouds. The equatorial cloud is present and pretty much the same appearance as earlier.

Astronomik RGB filterset,DMK21AU04 camera modified with much more sensitive
icx618ala ccd. The avis were shot at 1/120s for red,1/77s for green, and
1/45s for blue. Gain was at 773 for both Red and Green, and +-850 for blue

Good seeing. Extensive morning clouds over Tharsis forming a weak ECB through Chryse. As Ian mentioned, the Tharsis volcanoes are dramatically dark.
